Château Mangot Grand Cru Classé
2022: CHATEAU MANGOT PROMOTED TO SAINT-EMILION “GRAND CRU CLASSE
8 September 2022 marks another historic date for our family estate.
This recognition as one of Saint Emilion’s 74 “Grand Cru Classé” wines is the result of the work of 3 generations of winegrowers over 70 years.
A PROACTIVE APPROACH
A singular vintage, with a canicular summer, brings early harvests: Merlot from September 6 to 19, Cabernet from September 26 to October 3
The predominance of limestone accounts for the density, tension and minerality, counterbalanced by the smooth, juicy qualities provided by clay.
our mulches and untilled soils with plant cover enabled us to limit the impact of the summer drought by maintaining constant moisture levels.
Certified ORGANIC and in the 3rd year of conversion to BIODYNAMIC (Biodyvin).
WITH RESPECT FOR THE CHARACTER OF THE RAW MATERIALS
Manual harvesting for a distinctive blend: 65% Merlot, 30% Cabernet Franc, 5% Cabernet Sauvignon
Swift sorting facilitated by the perfectly homogeneous maturity of the grapes. Cold maceration before fermenting, natural yeasts, and alcoholic fermentation. Long vatting time: 35 days. Daily tasting by the team.
A precise and singular maturing process: 70% in barrels (of which only 25% are new), 15% in amphora, 10% in stainless steel tanks, 5% in wood cask.
IDENTITY OF ITS VINEYARD
Our aim is to reveal the true interpretation of our terroir. Our wines are authentic and sincere, reflecting the place where they were born.
In 2022, our 1st GRAND CRU CLASSE vintage was well received by the national and international press, with more than 20 scores and, above all, great comments to read…
